PRESIDENT KAY RALA XANANA GUSMÃO: TIMOR-LESTE CONDEMNS TERRORISM
In a letter today to H.E. President Megawati Soekarnoputri, President
Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão vehemently condemned yesterday’s tragic
bombing in Jakarta, which has so far claimed the lives of thirteen and
injured over 150 people.
President Xanana Gusmão views this latest terrorist act as an attempt to disrupt the democratic reform process in Indonesia, and condemns it as “an attack on peace in Indonesia, the region and the world”.
The President affirmed Timor-Leste’s commitment to work together with Indonesia to prevent repeat occurrences of these cowardly acts.
President Xanana Gusmão also extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expressed Timor-Leste’s solidarity with the people of Indonesia, assuring them that stability and peace will be a reality in their country.
